There are 3 outdoor pools, two hot and one cold. The temperature in the hot pools varies from 38 to 42 degrees C. The cold pool is 25 degrees C. Other activities at Warmwaterberg Spa include hiking trails on the property as well as drives to nearby mountains and towns.

CP Nel Museum

CP Nel Museum in Oudtshoorn

The CP Nel Museum, famed for being one of the best small town museums in South Africa, is housed in the former Oudtshoorn Boys High School at 3 Baron van Reede Street, Oudtshoorn. This sandstone building with its prominent clock-tower was  designed by Charles Bullock and erected in 1906. The main theme of the museum is the ostrich industry, focusing on the ostrich feather boom period (1900 – 1914).

  • Transport – variety of vehicles including an Oxwagen dating back to 1839, the first car in Oudthoorn an Panhard and the Schacht, a Dutch model from the year 1909
  • Bedroom – an early years bedroom scene with beautiful furniture
  • Dining Room – the expensive and luxurious furniture used in this room belonged to one of the old “Ostrich Barons”
  • Music Room – a variety of historic musical instruments are on display in this room.
  • N.A. Smit – room and its contents are depicting past happenings in the building. This was the History classroom of Mr N.A Smit (several places in Oudtshoorn were named after him), teacher at the old Oudtshoorn Boy’s High School.
  • Synagogue – the only Synagogue to be situated in a museum and it’s still being used. It has an Ark that is one of the tallest.
  • School Hall – filled with historical photographs of students.
  • Ostrich Hall – the cultural and natural historic aspects of the ostrich are depicted. You will experience the ostrich industry in its entirety.
  • Store – a typical 1911 sales store.
  • Military – Reminders of the Second World War, and the brave men who died during the event is to be seen. The museum also specialises in a variety of ancient weaponry.
  • Natural History – This is a scene of animals found in the Klein Karoo.
  • Street Scene – including a chemist, bank, crockery and clothing displays

Le Roux Town House Museum National Monument

Le Roux Town House Museum, situated at 146 High Street, Oudtshoorn, forms part of the museum. It was built in 1909 and is an attractive house with stained glass panels reflecting the distinct Art Nouveau style. This house also designed by architect Charles Bullock was build for a farmer, Mr. Le Roux as a town house for him and his family. The house was declared a National Monument in 1980.

Tsitsikamma Hiking Trail

The Tsitsikamma Hiking Trail forms part of MTO Ecotourism. The Tsitsikamma Hiking Trail was South Africa’s first officially accredited hiking trail and has recently been allocated the Green Flag Certificate for a trail under excellent management. The trail journeys through extensive indigenous forest and mountain fynbos. The ancient river gorges and abundant rivers and streams along this hiking trail in the Tsitsikamma will remind you of the creative power of water and the origins of the word Tsitsikamma.

Baboon, vervet monkey, large-spotted genet, bushpig and bushbuck are often encountered along the route and at overnight huts. Leopard, caracal, honey badger and blue duiker also occur, but are seldom seen. The forests provide ideal habitat for lesser seen bird species, such as rameron pigeon, narina trogon, sombre bulbul, forest buzzard, and colourful sunbirds and flycatchers. The fynbos harbours elusive endemics such as Victorins warbler, protea canary and the Cape siskin.

Hiking Trail Through the Tsitsikamma Mountains

The Tsitsikamma Hiking Trail begins in Natures Valley and ends 60km further at either the Storms River Bridge or Storms River Village. This is a six day unidirectional trail that takes hikers thought the heart of the Tsitsikamma Mountains. Each overnight hut has its own unique access route with safe parking and makes shorter variations of the trail possible. You also have the option of a 2, 3, 4 or 5 days trail.

Other activities permitted include vehicular and mountain bike access to certain overnight huts and informative guided day walks

Hiking Trail Offering Overnight Accommodation

The Tsitsikamma Hiking Trail is a hiking trail offering comfortable overnight accommodation. The accommodation facilities have been upgraded to an excellent standard and you can truly enjoy magnificent views and relax in comfort at each of the five overnight huts. Route Description and Distances Between Overnight Huts:

  • Day 1: Nature`s Valley – Kalander Hut – 3,6 km +- 1 hour 30 minutes
  • Day 2: Kalander – Blaawkrans Hut – 13,5 km +- 6 hours
  • Day 3: Blaawkrans – Keurbos Hut – 13,4 km +- 6 hours
  • Day 4: Keurbos – Heuningbos Hut – 13,4 km +- 6 hours
  • Day 5: Heuningbos – Sleepkloof Hut – 13,9 km +- 7 hours
  • Day 6: Sleepkloof Hut – Paul Sauer Bridge – 3,2 km +- 1 hour
    or Sleepkloof Hut – Storms River Village – 5,5 km +- 2 hours
Rates
  • Our tariffs are R200.00 per person who over night in at any of the five huts
  • A day hike along the Tsitsikamma Trail will cost R50.00 per person per day
  • Should you wish your groups equipment to be transported between overnight huts the cost will be R825.00 per hut for the first 5 people and then R165.00 per person thereafter additional up to 24 persons maximum per hut.

The Zipline Tours at Tsitsikamma Falls Adventures is an amazing dry adventure activity. Rain suites will be provided by the operator when necessary. Two different tours are offered to visitors.

The Original Tsitsikamma Falls Adventures Zipline Tour

A great adventure awaits your on the eight sides of the Original Tsitsikamma Falls Adventures Zipline Tour. Zigzag along cables across the river gorge, as high as 50 meter above the water in some places. The longest slide is 211 meter and the total distance of all the slides is 822 meters. Each section of this adventure activity presents its own surprises, adventure, wonders and beautiful views over indigenous Tsitsikamma fauna and flora. Users can control the speed of their descent, allowing them to stop mid cable to take in some of the awesome views over the waterfalls. The experienced guides provide interesting commentary about the area as patrons traverse the gorge and waterfalls.

Tripple 500 Zipline Tour in Tsitsikamma

The Magical Tripple 500 Zipline Tour was introduced at the end of 2018 at Tsitsikamma Falls Adventures. This amazing new adventure tour consists of 3 slides over 3 waterfalls of which the longest is 500m and the total distance 810 meters! Three persons can slide alongside on the first slide. The remaining two slides are done one person at a time.
